Elvis Presley Lipsticks
Elvis Presley Lipsticks
Elvis Presley Enterprises was established in the summer of 1956 by Colonel Tom Parker in a deal with Hank Saperstein. Saperstein had successfully merchandised Wyatt Earp, the Lone Ranger, Lassie, and other icons of American pop culture. The Colonel and Saperstein approved 18 licensees, who produced about 30 products. Among them were Elvis Presley Lipsticks, which Saperstein claimed would be so popular “they would walk off the counter.”
Shades included Hound Dog Orange, Heartbreak Pink, Cruel Red, Tender Pink, Tutti Frutti Red, and Love-ya Fuschia. Each lipstick came attached to a card with a picture of Elvis and the tag line, “Keep me always on your lips.” The lipsticks are a popular collectible today, partly because the colors were named after Elvis songs. A tube attached to the original card is quite valuable, while the lipstick chart that lists all the colors is extremely rare.

Elvis, Ginger and Rosemary fly to Palm Springs.
“We landed at the Palm Springs airport near dawn. The glitz of Las Vegas was nowhere in sight, only the serene desert with spectacular mountains in the distance. We exited the plane and the group divided, most going on to a hotel while Elvis, one of his aides, Charlie, Rosemary, and I rode to Elvis’s home on Chino Canyon Drive.
I loved the house. It was a low, sprawling, Spanish-style white stucco home with a roof tiled in a warm terra-cotta color. The property was surrounded by a black iron fence.
“Not much yard,” Rosemary said as she noted the lack of grass.
Elvis laughed. “That’s why I had some of the rocks painted green.”

Elvis & Priscilla boarding their flight to Palm Springs
Vail Colorado, January 4, 1976
After a skiing accident at Vail Colorado, with Dr Nick’s George Nichopoulos son Dean needing medical attention, Elvis, Dr Nick and Dean went to the local hospital.
George Nichopoulos said ‘Finally we arrived at the hospital. I pulled out my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance card with Elvis Presley Enterprises printed on it and handed it to the busy receptionist.
She must have thought she was being cute, beause she smirked back, ‘Yeah. So where’s Elvis?’
Still wearing his ski mask, Elvis looked all around, left and right, up and down; then he answered mischievously, ‘He’s here somewhere’, ‘And who are you?’ the receptionist said back. ‘The Lone Ranger’, Elvis replied matter-of-factly. But she had already returned to her paperwork, paying no attention to the silly masked man. X-rays showed Dean’s knee was badly sprained and bruised with contusions.
