Elvis Presley ~ Lauderdale Courts
The Presley's moved to Lauderdale Courts, a public housing project in 1949. Their apartment number 328 was located at 185 Winchester Street. Without trying to draw attention too himself, Elvis starts to make new friends. He made friends with Evan "Buzzy Forbes and soon meets Buzz's friends Paul Dougher, Farley Guy and Jim Denson.
Evan "Buzzy" Forbes: "I've heard a lot about how protective Mrs. Presley was of Elvis, that he didn't go anywhere without or doing anything unless she gave her approval We would go out at night like normal kids. I can't say that Elvis' mother never followed him to school, but I never saw her go to School with him.
Buzzy said: Paul Farley, Elvis and I would walk across the bayou to and from school . A number of students with Humes High Schools class of 1953, pointed to Evan "Buzzy" Forbes as Elvis' best friend.
A number of people who knew Elvis in those years might term the quartet of Elvis Presley, Buzzy Forbes, Paul Dougher, and Farley Guy as "The Rat Pack".
